Hey again everyone! Glad to be back for Part 2 of Simplifying the Inventor Content Center (“The Hover board one”)
Part 2: Editing Family Table and Family Properties: Once you have a custom library configured, it’s just understanding the nomenclature to being successful and editing what you want. In Part 2 we look at the Content Center Editor your three options are “Copy to”, “Save Copy As with Link”, or “Save Copy As Without Link”.
Copy to enables editing of the Family Table and the Family Properties. This function copies the family data but does not create a physical copy of the parent family in the Read/Write library. This copy will update with the Parent.
Save Copy As with Link creates a Physical copy of the parent family in the user library which will update with the parent. This is useful for creating part families with identical parameters but different materials.
Save Copy As without Link creates an independent family. You can edit all data including the parameter mapping and template.
Simply put, Copy to and is like “Make a read/write copy” and Save Copy As creates a copy and lets the User work with both parent and child.
Thanks for tuning in, be sure to follow me @Jamie_Scherer & @lorenwelch for future updates.
